Tarteel's Annual Newsletter: Celebrating a Year of Growth and Achievement

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

As we reflect on the past year at Tarteel, we begin by thanking Allah SWT for the countless blessings and achievements that have marked this fruitful journey. No achievement or blessing is from ourselves. Tawfeeq is only from Allah SWT. This year, our center happily served 1,310 students across the different courses offered at Tarteel. This is a testament to the growing thirst for knowledge within the Muslim community and the unwavering dedication of the students.

Tarteel also went through a transitional phase from the old structure of tajweed courses to the new structure. This change was implemented to ensure an enhanced learning experience for all our students and a more streamlined structure for our programmes.

Additionally, Tarteel witnessed remarkable growth in the Hifdh programme, with more students than ever dedicating themselves to memorizing the Quran. This year also saw the expansion of our elderly classes, providing a unique space for older community members to connect with the Quran and deepen their understanding of its teachings.

Furthermore, Tarteel’s Arabic Department, since its establishment in 2018, has been a cornerstone and a great addition to enhance the liguistic learning and the Quranic learning journey for our students, and community. This year, we celebrated the graduation of the first cohort that completed all the levels of arabic nahw from the Arabic Language programme. These students have successfully completed a rigorous and enriching curriculum, enabling them to engage deeply with the Quran and Islamic texts. Alhamdulillah this could have only been achieved with the blessigns of Allah SWT and the dedication of the staff, and students.

This year we also we celebrated a monumental achievement for Tarteel’s Hifdh Department: the graduation of the first Haafidhah from the making of Tarteel's Hifdh department and programme. While many of our staff and students are already Huffadh, this accomplishment is uniquely special as it is a direct fruit of the structured efforts and curriculum of our own Hifdh programme. The success of this programme inspires us to continue nurturing more Huffadh in the years to come, Insha’Allah.

Tarteel has also celebrated the efforts of our dedicated staff and students with the gradaution of the first cohort from the Usool Programme. This programme has been a valuable addition to our curriculum and a great addition to the Quranic journey for our dedicated students.

We are proud to be working with a community of sisters that are highly dedicated and are continuosly aspiring to upskill their islamic and Quranic education. Tarteel always hopes to see our students serving as ambassadors of knowledge in their communities.

Exciting Activities and Community Events

This year, Tarteel hosted a variety of engaging activities and events:

  • Summer Bazaar and Pre-Ramadan Bazaar: These vibrant events offered a platform for local businesses and a chance for Muslim community members to meet and come together to support one another. With the availability of free recitation classes during the bazaar as well as kids art and craft activities, the bazaar was a great success and an enjoyable experience for all involved.
  • Archery and Horse Riding: Sunnah-inspired activities that combined fun with discipline and connection to nature. Adding on some picnic time following the event.
  • Hijamah Workshop: Reviving the prophetic practice of cupping therapy, providing physical relief and spiritual connection.
  • Geometry Islamic Art Class: A creative session exploring the beauty of Islamic geometric patterns, combining precision and artistry.
  • Eid Lolly Bags: Bringing joy to children and families with beautifully curated Eid treats. Various Islamic schools have supported this programme. Yearly, we have students from different Islamic schools bringing their students to participate in packing the eid lolly bags. This project is a Sadaqah project that seeks to give back to the community. It provides an average of 2,500 lolly bags that are distributed and given for free to mosques around Melbourne to be distributed on Eid morning.
  • First Community Iftar: A memorable evening that united the Tarteel family, strengthening bonds over a shared meal during the blessed month of Ramadan. The community iftar was our Ramadan highlight. Alhamdulillah rab al'alameen, the Iftar was well-liked by our members, with some quiz time and prizes.
  • End-of-year community breakfast (Half the proceedings for Gaza) : We gathered for a beautiful Breakfast at the Park at Jack Roper Reserve. We raised an incredible $𝟏𝟏𝟎𝟎 to support our brothers and sisters in Gaza. We deeply thank everyone who attended and contributed to this noble cause.

Expansion in the "Delving into Quranic Meaning" programme

Alhamdulillah, the Delving into Quranic Meaning programme, has been a beautiful addition to our streams. It allows students to go beyond recitation and explore the profound meanings, tafsir, and relevance of the Quranic verses in their lives. This programme continues to grow, offering students a deeper connection to the Quran’s wisdom and its application in contemporary times. Alhamdulillah this year our students have completed Surat Az-Zukhruf, Surat Fussilat, and Surat Taha. We are eagerly awaiting the upcoming surah for the coming year in shaa Allah.

Collaboration with Melbourne Muslim Seminary (MMS)

We are thrilled to announce that starting in 2025, Tarteel will be collaborating with the Melbourne Muslim Seminary to teach the Uloom Al-Quran (Sciences of the Quran) subject as part of the seminary's Year 1 Programme.

This partnership reflects Tarteel’s commitment to advancing Islamic education by equipping students with a comprehensive understanding of the Quran’s many sciences. The collaboration will combine the expertise of Tarteel’s instructor with the great academic framework of Melbourne Muslim Seminary.

We are honored to contribute to this prestigious programme and look forward to nurturing the next generation of students and leaders.

The Annual Graduation Ceremony - 'A Seal of Musk' (i.e. a beautiful ending)

The year concluded with the end-of-year graduation ceremony, which acted as 'a seal of musk' in which Tarteel celebrated the achievements of its' students across the different courses.

The event featured a heartfelt talk by Dr. Bushra Othman, who shared her inspiring journey from her recent medical mission in Gaza. Her words inspired us and reflected the resilience and amazing character of the honoured people of Palestine.

The ceremony also included nasheed performances, adding a beautiful element to the gathering and further honouring the people of the blessed land of Palestine. It was a moment of reflection, joy, and gratitude as we celebrated the accomplishments of our students and the collective efforts of all involved.

As we close this remarkable year, we ask Allah SWT to allow Tarteel to remain committed to serving the Muslim community through teaching the different facets of Quranic teachings. We aim to expand our programmes based on the needs of the Muslim community and enhance our teaching methods to aspire for itqaan in whatever programmes are provided. The successes of this year would not have been possible without the dedication of our dedicated staff, teachers, and students who have worked tirelessly to make Tarteel a propagator of the Noor of the Quranin the community.

We thank Allah SWT for His continued blessings and look forward to another year of growth, tawfeeq, and benefit.
